Best Farmer’s Joy Cut Short

By Daily Graphic

The joy of this year's South Dayi District Best Farmer, Mr Francis Agboada, was cut short when the vehicle which was transporting him and his prizes to his house was involved in an accident on the Peki-Kpeve highway.

Even though he escaped unhurt, his prize of a television set, a ghetto blaster, a spraying machine, and a bicycle were totally destroyed in the accident.

According to an eyewitness, Mr Agboada's Tata pick-up was run into by a 23-seater bus which was conveying mourners from Accra to Hohoe.

The Mercedes Benz bus, with registration number GE 4091 W, veered off the road and crashed into a tree. There were no deaths but a number of people who sustained injuries were treated and discharged.

A rather distraught Agboada later told the Daily Graphic that he was lucky to be alive, and that he would work harder to win the national best farmer award next year.
