Speaking at the function, which attracted a respectable number of the party's supporters in the area, Mr. Nylander told the gathering that, for him, Nima is home.

According to him, he used to pass through Nima when going to school at Accra Newtown at the time his father, Mr. C.T. Nylander was Education Minister in the early days of the Nkrumah regime.
He said he is seeking the chairmanship of the party alongside Mr. Iddi Egala but in the event of losing to Mr. Egala he would support him to run the party. On the other hand, if he beats his opponent, he would join hands with him to ensure the progress of the CPP, he assured.

He promised to provide a radio set for the new office.
An interesting historical disclosure was made at the function when the MC stated that Nima and Ruga residents were neighbours of the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah when he lived at Flagstaff House, and recalled also that the first president contested for an elected office at Ward 27.

He added that in those days, children from the areas used to fraternize with the Number One Citizen and that a president will be produced by CPP to occupy the new Flagstaff House once again.

Madam Fati Salifu Dagarti, daughter of the cop who gave his life to save Dr Nkrumah from an assassin's bullet at the Flagstaff House, was also present at the function.
