The Wassa West District Assembly has approved a budget of 29.7 billion cedis for the 2007 fiscal year to facilitate the provision of infrastructure towards poverty reduction in the district.
Mr Alex Quarm, the Chairman of the sub-committee on finance and administration for the Assembly gave this hint at an emergency meeting at Tarkwa. He gave the assurance that the money would be spent in such a way that development would be fairly distributed in the district.
The meeting which was attended by 65 members out of a total of 75 members of the Assembly agreed to allocate 200 million cedis as emergency relief to the National Disaster Management Organisation and to pass a bye-law to forbid landlords and landladies from providing pan latrines in their homes.
