The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Ghana Limited has launched a new service that allows customers of the bank to receive instant SMS notification on their mobile phones or in their e-mail box as transactions occur.

Dubbed “Wise Alert” the service enables customers expecting payments or salaries to receive automatic confirmation of payment or non-payment on their phones or in their e-mails.

Inn an address at the launch, the Managing Director of the Bank, Nnamdi Okonkwao, said the introduction of the new service would make it easier for customers to access their accounts without necessarily driving through heavy traffic or long distances to the bank.

He added that the bank also operates a zero deposit account called 'cashless account” that affords the public the opportunity to open accounts without any initial deposit.

Speaking to the Times, a corporate communication officer, Nana Adu Kyeremanteng, urged the public particularly the youth to take interest in saving.

He explained that as future leaders and to-be parents it was important that young people take very keen interest in savings so that they can invest in profitable ventures rather than leading extravagant lifestyles.
