Anlo Senior High School (Anseco), renowned as one of the top schools in the Volta Region of Ghana, recently experienced a devastating rainstorm that caused extensive damage to its infrastructure. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as the students were safely inside classrooms when the storm hit.

The heavy rain, accompanied by strong winds, began around 7:50 am on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, and lasted for several hours, wreaking havoc on various structures within the school premises. The school's kitchen and car garage were completely destroyed, while portions of the roofs of buildings such as the House Mistress' bungalow, Science and Computer laboratories, and Visual Arts studio were torn off by the fierce winds. Additionally, trees were uprooted, adding to the destruction and leaving the school authorities grappling with the aftermath.

Anseco, with a student population of approximately 2,367 and a dedicated team of 154 teachers, holds a prominent position as "the Star of Anlo-land" and is situated in the Anloga District of the Volta Region. Despite its esteemed reputation, the school faces ongoing infrastructure challenges, with several major projects left incomplete over the years.

The recent storm has further exacerbated these challenges, highlighting the urgent need for support from the government and corporate entities to repair the damaged properties swiftly. Many distinguished professionals, including professors and doctors, have been nurtured by Anseco, underscoring the importance of preserving its infrastructure for future generations of students.

Parents who visited the school expressed concern over the extent of the damage and called upon alumni, local organizations, and international bodies to rally together and assist in the restoration efforts. Rebuilding the destroyed properties will require collective effort, as the school lacks the financial resources to undertake such extensive repairs independently.

In light of this unfortunate event, it is imperative that stakeholders unite to ensure that Anseco can resume its educational activities without delay, providing students with a conducive learning environment for their academic pursuits.
