NIA increases registration service fees effective May 1

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced adjustments to its fees and charges for registration services that will come into effect on May 1, according to a public notice.

"The National Identification Authority (NIA) wishes to inform the public about adjustments to fees and charges for registration services in line with the Fees and Charges (Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations, 2023 (L.I. 2481) passed by Parliament in February 2024," the notice reads.

Some key fee increases include first-time registration at NIA Premium Centres going up to GHc310 while card replacement fees at Premium Centres is now GHc420.

Fees for Ghanaians in the ECOWAS sub-region looking to do first-time registration or update their records with card replacement will now pay the cedi equivalent of USD27.50 and USD55 respectively.

Record updates without card replacements will remain free of charge at NIA's regional and district offices, but will cost GHc310 at Premium Centres.

Nationality updates at NIA regional and district offices are now going up to GHc70.

The NIA stated that the adjustments were made "in line with the Fees and Charges (Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations."
