Voting for Dr. Bawumia is voting for Otchere-Darko, Ofori-Atta and Bediatuo in 2024 general elections

The NPP and Dr. Bawumia deserve no third chance in the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections for obvious reasons.

The three familial relations of the outgoing President Akufo-Addo, namely Gabby Otchere-Darko, Ken Ofori-Atta and Nana Asante Bediatuo have been associated with the unpopularity of this Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led government.

Gabby Otchere-Darko’s name is no stranger when it comes to a number of controversial botched corruption scandals like PDS and Agyapa deals.

On the part of Ken Ofori-Atta, he engaged in unbridled borrowing, mismanagement, and plunged the nation into a painful DDEP, more taxes (e-levy, etc.), bad macro-indicators and taking the country to the IMF again for a $3 billion loan to avoid total collapse of the economy.

Despite the former Finance Minister survived the motion of censure by Parliament and the constant calls of Ghanaians made to President Akufo-Addo to sack him, the President was numb to such calls until lately. Although Ken Ofori-Atta is out of the Finance Ministry in the recent ministerial reshuffle, he is still part of the running of this government in a different portfolio at the Presidency.

Nana Asante Bediatuo, the Executive Secretary to the President is no exception. He has been fingered in a number of controversial issues such as Torentco deal at TOR, and recently with his disrespectful and contemptuous Presidential letter to the Rt. Hon. Speaker to ‘cease and desist’ in transmitting the anti-LTGBTQ+ bill to Akufo-Addo, leading to an avoidable clash of the executive and legislative supremacy in the country.

Dr. Bawumia, the 2024 Flagbearer of the NPP, who was religiously kept as Akufo-Addo’s running mate for three times and subsequently the Vice President now, is unquestionably loyal to President Akufo-Addo as well as his relatives mentioned above.

President Akufo-Addo is probably aware that Dr. Bawumia can better cover up the economic and corruption mess created by his regime, which the latter is centrally part of. This clearly shows that Dr. Bawumia is not his own man now and will not become his own man even when he unlikely becomes the President of Ghana.

Dr. Bawumia will be remotely controlled by Nana Akufo-Addo who will become a former President then and the above-cited relatives of him will latently oversee the running of the country. The social, economic, and environmental mess that Ghana is in now is caused by the insensitive actions and deliberate inaction of the Akudo-Addo-led government. This should be avoided in our upcoming general elections.

It should be a collective responsibility to ensure that this disappointing NPP government is voted out because voting for Dr. Bawumia means that Ghanaians are simply voting for another controversial and incompetent Akufo-Addo’s government including Gabby Otchere-Darko, Asante Bediatuo and Ken Ofori-Atta still part of it. Let us not make this mistake again!

It is incumbent upon us to democratically stop this nepotistic, corrupt, and insensitive regime led by Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming general elections by replacing it with more experienced and poised NDC/Mahama-led government in 2025.

This obvious cycle of corruption and economic mismanagement can only be broken if Ghanaians speak with more anger and hunger to dislodge the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led government convincingly in the upcoming polls on December 7, 2024.
