Outgoing Member of Suame Constituency, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, has made a generous donation of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis to support the Komfo Anokye project fund.

His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, launched an initiative aimed at renovating the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, a major referral hospital in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti region.

The project seeks benevolent support from citizens and stakeholders to contribute towards the improvement of the facility, which has been experiencing progressive deterioration, making healthcare delivery challenging.

The call for support from Otumfuo has received significant collaboration and a swift response from the general public.

Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, while presenting a check of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis, expressed that his contribution is part of his commitment to supporting Otumfuo's vision, stating that it will enhance healthcare delivery at the hospital.

He commended Otumfuo for his prompt initiative to rescue the hospital, along with his educational foundation aimed at enhancing learning nationwide. He expressed confidence that this initiative will mark the beginning of continued and progressive development in the region.

He pledged ongoing support for the initiative and urged others to follow suit with acts of benevolence.

Prof. Okyere Addai Mensah, the CEO of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, received the check and praised the MP, noting that the contribution will greatly support the project.

He highlighted that his regular inspections of the hospital have acquainted him with its current state, which prompted the king's decision to launch the initiative. On average, the facility receives about 1,086 patients daily, yet the facilities are not conducive enough, with inadequate washroom facilities being a notable example.

He hinted that if no action is taken, the facility might face accreditation challenges from the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA).

Prof. Mensah mentioned that the hospital management requires approximately Ten Million Dollars to transform the hospital. He applauded the MP for his generous gesture and encouraged others to do the same.
