NDC NDC Holland Chapter Congratulatory Message To Prof. Jane Nana Opoku-Agyeman
MON, 11 MAR 2024 LISTEN

The members of the NDC Holland Chapter congratulate Professor Jana Naana Opoku-Agyeman on being selected as President John Dramani Mahama's Vice Presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections. She was officially confirmed as the running mate of our great party, National Democratic Congress, on 7 March 2024. We trust and believe that Prof Opoku-Agyeman is an excellent choice and the best candidate to bring us victory on 7 December 2024. Prof Opoku-Agyeman is a respected academic, a prudent administrator and a professional politician who has made her mark in the socio-political development of Ghana. She is a woman with an impeccable record of public service and a strong appeal to swing voters. Her retention as the vice presidential candidate of the largest opposition party in Ghana is a historic choice and a vindication of the strength of a woman. As the proverbial saying goes, when women participate in democracy, we all win.

We have no doubt that with her commendable experience in public service, she will make a valuable contribution to the people of Ghana. She is a tremendous source of inspiration not only to the people of Ghana but also to many other African countries who see Ghana as a role model for African democracy. We strongly believe that women are more empathetic and sensitive to the feelings of others. As they say, when you educate a woman, you educate the whole nation. It has also been scientifically proven that women are more sympathetic to the pain of others in terms of compassion. It is encouraging that the importance and value of women's leadership is increasingly being recognised, as some African countries have recently demonstrated. We believe that Africa would be a more understanding, peaceful and less corruptible place if more of our African leaders were women.

Prof Opoku-Agyeman, congratulations once again on your undoubtedly well-deserved nomination. Congratulations also to President John Dramani Mahama on his repeat selection of the former Vice Chancellor and former Minister of Education. The selection of the Vice President can be quite an open-ended mess that can cause as many problems for a candidate as it can help in an election. The choice of Vice President is intended to be an electoral advantage, providing balance on the ballot and hopefully appealing to more voters. With your choice of Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman, we believe you have made a perfect choice and the path to Jubilee House is guaranteed.

Our country, Ghana, cannot afford another four (4) years of lies, incompetence, cronyism, corruption and reckless driver mate. The ruling NPP party under the leadership of Akufo-Addo/Bawumia has failed Ghanaians abysmally and it is time to give them the boot. In Ghana, the current government has overseen the mushrooming of political vigilantism, dictatorial rule, suppression of the media, intimidation on social media and the creation of a poisonous atmosphere at all levels of office.

Ghana was until recently a country that was a beacon of hope for so many Africans in their desire for freedom, democracy, religious freedom and the rule of law. But in the last seven years of a bad regime, our beloved country has fallen low on the rule of law and has no hope for the young and old. But we must now look to this new team, the Mahama/Opoku-Agyeman ticket, to create an alternative version of a Ghana that is fiscally responsible, strong and prosperous - a Ghana that understands and is proud of its exceptional role in sub-Saharan Africa.

We are also convinced that the Mahama/Opoku-Agyeman ticket will address core human values such as socio-economic development, good healthcare, the environment, a better education system and job creation, which will ultimately benefit all Ghanaians. And we know that with President Mahama's vision of a 24-hour economy, we will build the Ghana we want.

From us in the Netherlands, we say “AYEKOO” and God strengthens you.

In conclusion, let us adhere to the policy of probity, accountability and transparency.

God Bless Ghana!

God Bless NDC!

ƐyƐ Zu, ƐyƐ Za!
