The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, Sam Pyne, has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for attacking the policy proposals put forward by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The criticism is in reaction to remarks made by the NDC questioning Dr. Bawumia's credibility and commitment to the policies he outlined during an event at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

During the event, Dr. Bawumia outlined key policy initiatives, including the abolition of e-levy and other taxes, tax amnesty for individuals and businesses, initiatives to improve the mining sector, and making National Service optional.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, Sam Pyne urged the NDC to stop attacking Dr. Bawumia and focus on presenting their policies to the Ghanaian electorate.

He mentioned that members of the opposition party have begun calling the Vice President “Bawuliar.”

In view of this, he asked, "Do you think if we also decide to call Mahama names, he will last for 30 seconds in Ghana?"

Sam Pyne also questioned the feasibility of Mr. Mahama's 24-hour economy proposal, expressing doubt about its practicality.

He asked, "Is he going to force companies to run 24 hours a day or what?"

According to the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, even key members of the NDC, including Asiedu Nketia, the Chairman, struggle to provide a clear understanding of the 24-hour economy policy.

He said, "Sometime ago, Asiedu Nketia, Chairman of the NDC, was standing somewhere explaining it, but you could sense he was really finding it difficult. He was sweating all over his body because he, himself, doesn't understand it.”

In his admonishment to the former President, Sam Pyne emphasized the need for the upcoming election to be issue-driven, calling for credible alternatives and policies rather than insults.

He concluded, "Going forward, we are looking for alternatives, policies not insults."
