The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has issued a statement explaining the overbilling being experienced by residents in communities affected by the Akosombo Dam spillage.
In its statement on Tuesday, February 6, ECG said the overbilling is a result of the nonreading of their post-paid meters.
The company assured that steps are being taken to address all the overbilling challenges.
“The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Limited wishes to inform our cherished customers, especially those affected by the Akosombo Dam spillage within the North, Central, and South Tongu Districts, that their over-billing challenge, which is mainly due to nonreading of their post-paid meters is being addressed,” part of the ECG statement said.
It added, “ECG is undertaking a comprehensive meter audit within the affected communities to reconcile the accounts involved and ensure the replacement of their faulty meters without a fee.”
All affected customers are encouraged to cooperate with ECG during the exercise.
