Nana Akomea, Chief Executive Officer of the InterCity State Transport Corporation, has lauded the decision of some old Members of Parliament from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to bow out of Parliament.

He said their decision is a positive step.
Eighteen Parliamentarians, including notable figures such as Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, First Deputy Speaker Joseph Osei-Owusu, Kennedy Agyapong representing Assin Central, and Dan Botwe for Okere, have recently announced their decision not to return to Parliament.

During an appearance on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show monitored by ModernGhana News, Nana Akomea expressed his approval of the MPs' decision, asserting that it is a necessary move since people cannot stay in Parliament forever.

Nana Akomea further downplayed concerns about the potential impact of the departure of these MPs on the NPP, stating, "They have done their part.

“They have served Parliament, NPP, and Ghana. They cannot stay there forever; no matter what you will go...You will go for someone to replace you. What is important is to have a succession plan. Because no matter how good you are, you can't do one job forever."

Meanwhile, the NPP is gearing up for its internal polls scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 2024 where they will elect parliamentary candidates in constituencies with sitting Members of Parliament.
