Businessman and politician Nana Kwame Bediako popularly known as Freedom Jacob Caesar, has observed that foreign events are welcomed in Ghana whereas local ones are denied.

Reacting to the cancellation of the Convention Event that his foundation, The New African Foundation was organizing, in an interview with TV3’s Alfred Ocansey on Thursday, January 11, he expressed his disappointment in the cancellation that was occasioned by an order from the presidency after indicating that “Discussions were made with the Director of Diaspora Affairs about the Convention.”

“The foreign events are always accepted but the local events are always unconsidered,” Nana Kwame Bediako noted.

Earlier, he said he was not one to be scared of. He said he is a man with a good purpose, with a great vision, and has a plan for this nation.

He made these comments after revealing his identity as the man in the mask, embarking on 'The New Force' campaign.

Addressing journalists in Accra on Sunday, January 7 after the Convention Event that his foundation, The New African Foundation, was organizing was canceled by an order from the presidency, he said he would have taken his time to tell Ghanaians about the face behind the mask but chose to do so now due to the controversies that surrounded the Convention event.

“I am nothing to be scared of. I came to you as your salvation. I don't invest in myself alone. I am investing in you,” he said.

“We need to educate. We need to uplift our children. We need to voice out to them. You are about to find out about this man in the mask. Because I never spoke a word, you were looking for me. I didn't tell you whether I am into politics, whether I am an evangelist, whether I am a conventionist or a revolutionist. After this day, you will have to wait for me to share my policies and my visions with you.

“And if I'm the reason why the country or the government is not happy about these great voices coming to educate not only Ghana but also Africa, then I take this moment to sacrifice myself, to unveil myself, because I have much respect for these great leaders beside me. I would have taken my own time to tell you that I am. But for this very moment, I am sacrificing myself to let you know that I'm that man.

“But I'm that man with a good purpose, with a great vision. I have a plan, and I have a vision for this nation. And not only for this nation, I have it for Africa too. But I know Africa is the next biggest thing because out of all the continents that have been developed in this world, there is only one continent that is not developed and I am sent to do that,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Presidency explained why the organizers of Pan-African event, were told to cancel it a few hours before the start on Sunday, January 7.

The Diaspora Affairs Directorate at the Office of the President said it was necessitated by an “unforeseen” state event scheduled to take place at the same venue.

In a press release, Dr Fynn stated, “We write to revoke immediately the permission granted per our letter No.OP/PH/02 dated November 11, 2024, which approved your request to use the Black Star Square for the above event.

“This decision has been necessitated by an unforeseen State Event scheduled to take place at the venue.”

Following the cancellation, the organizers said the government directed them to call off the event. They further described the directive to cancel it as shocking after claiming that the government had given them permission in November 2023.

“We regret to inform you that the Government has cancelled the above Pan African Event which was to take place today at the Independence Square in Accra, Ghana. All the special guests have arrived and thousands of people have come from all over Ghana as well as around the globe for this historic event. We have just been informed of the cancellation of this event a couple of hours before its commencement. This event was approved by the government in November 2023. This came as a shock to us and devastation to our dignitaries and special guests who flew in from around the world.

The speakers who were billed to speak included Professor P. L. O. Lumumba, Julius Malema, Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao, and Peter Obi.
