The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Awutu Senya East Constituency of the Central Region are demanding an immediate and thorough investigation by the police into the actions of Hon. Hawa Koomson during the District Assembly Elections.

A statement signed by the Youth Organiser of the party in the constituency, Nash Nyandey Adams on December 28 revealed that Hon. Hawa Koomson is alleged to have imported thugs from Bawku to cause mayhem in Kasoa.

"It must be noted that these hoodlums were seen in the company of the NPP youth organizer for Awutu Senya East and how she conveniently overlooked that to attack me, is most mischievous and extremely annoying," Nyandey Adams noted.

According to him, the thuggish activities of the lawmaker is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

He sternly warns against any attempt by Hon. Hawa Koomson's thugs, dressed in national security uniforms, to manipulate the electoral process.

He stated that the NDC in Awutu Senya East would not allow a repeat of the 2020 general elections violence.

"Hon. Hawa Koomson's audacious declaration on national television that she will only accept defeat when she is deceased is a clear affront to democratic norms," he noted.

He has therefore advised Hon. Hawa Koomson to prepare for a fair and transparent electoral process, one that will inevitably produce the former President John Mahama and Hon. Naa Koryoo as the President and MP elects respectively.

He said unlike the previous instances, the NDC in Kasoa will not wait for its leaders from Accra to address the matter adding that "the party in Awutu Senya East is fully prepared to take matters into our own hands to ensure the safety of our members and the integrity of the electoral process."

"We express our deep reservations about the potential lapse in security during the upcoming General Elections and if the police cannot guarantee the safety of our members and the public, the NDC will not remain passive," he added.

Mr. Nash Nyandey Adams called on the relevant authorities to address the concerns promptly and with the seriousness they deserve.
