The Agona East Chairperson of the Ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Hannah Asamoah was last Saturday elected as Parliamentary candidate to represent the party for the 2024 general elections.
She polled 396 out of the 657 valid votes cast beating her closest rival, Mr. Prince Esaah who obtained 259 with 1 rejected ballot.
She was subsequently declared as a Parliamentary candidate-elect for the NPP.
The elections which was conducted by the Agona East District Directorate of the Electoral Commission (EC) under the supervision of the District Director, Madam Patience Shebrah was generally peaceful.
In her acceptance speech, Madam Hannah Asamoah thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in her adding that she would lead the party to recapture the parliamentary seat from the NDC in the 2024 general elections.
She used the occasion to appeal for unity of purpose for the party in the Agona East constituency to achieve its main purpose of recapturing the lost seat which she said had been in 'exile' for over 12 years.
"We have been winning Presidential elections on many occasions, what is left is the Parliamentary, we are going recapture it.
" Through the brilliant performance of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo led NPP Government, the NPP has become attractive to the masses in the constituency.
"It therefore behoves on us to come together with one accord as a family in our quest to break the 8 and also recapture the seat as well.
"Agona East is looking up to the NPP to represent them in Ghana's Parliament House so that more infrastructure and human development could be provided fully. We dare not to disappoint them this time around, 2024 should be a rescue year for the people in the Agona East constituency.
"As I have been saying, my doors are opened to welcome every individual person, be it a toddler, youth or adult to win the ultimate goal for the NPP, together we can relieve our people and give them their desired haven," the chairperson stated.
