Leaders and organizations from around the world endorsed the new Accra Call on cyber capacity building at the maiden Global Conference on Cyber Capacity Building (GC3B) in Accra, Ghana launched by the Ghana Cyber Security Authority.

The GC3B, co-organized by the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise, World Bank, Cyber Peace Forum and World Economic Forum, saw high-level discussions on elevating cyber resilience as a key enabler of development.

"Cyber capacity building is crucial for every nation to have the expertise, knowledge and skills to invest in their digital future," said the statement in part.

The Accra Call outlines 16 specific actions governments and partners pledge to coordinate.

It aims to promote cyber resilience across development agendas and support broader goals through effective, demand-driven capacity building.

Areas of focus include strengthening the role of cyber resilience in sustainability, advancing tailored and sustainable capacity programs, fostering multistakeholder partnerships and better coordination, as well as unlocking resources for implementation.

Over 30 governments and organizations endorsed the Accra Call, including the EU, UK, Microsoft and Interpol.

"Strong multilateral collaboration is needed to build a free, open and secure digital world for all," a statement released after the first day of the conference on Wednesday, November 29, said in part.

Progress will be reviewed at the next GC3B in 2025. The Accra Call launches an action framework to help developing countries achieve cyber resilience and digital opportunities.

Coordinated global efforts will be key to enabling every nation's safe digital transition.
