Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has indicated that he is focused on taking steps that will drive Ghana’s sustained economic growth.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 3i Africa summit in Accra on Monday, May 13, the Finance Minister disclosed that he plans to do this by taking advantage of the potential of the country’s fintech landscape.

“In my capacity as Ghana’s Finance Minister, I am steadfastly committed to harnessing the potential of our nation’s fintech landscape to drive sustained economic growth and progress. By leveraging the collective knowledge, innovation, and dynamism of our fintech sector, we can unlock new opportunities, generate employment, and accelerate progress towards our overarching development goals.

“To that end, I humbly ask that we unite and seize every opportunity to harness the transformative power of fintech and build a more inclusive, prosperous, and resilient Africa for generations to come,” Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam said.

In his address, the Finance Minister said the Ministry is in the process of finalising an SME financing strategy.

The strategy has various components including direct lending to SMEs, provision of guarantees to financial institutions, reducing the cost of borrowing, and supporting skills and innovation in the SME ecosystem through fintechs.

The 3i Africa Summit is being held in Accra to explore and promote active collaboration between diverse stakeholder groups in key areas, and continuously drive innovation momentum across the region.
