NPP polls: 'I assure delegates I'll beat Mahama; resist any influence, vote for me' — Kennedy Agyapong

Kennedy Agyapong, the aspiring presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has delivered a strong message to party delegates, assuring them that he is the candidate who can secure victory in the 2024 elections if chosen as the party's flagbearer.

Mr Agyapong's declaration was made during a gathering of party members, supporters, and sympathizers at the Cape Coast chapel square after a well-received "showdown walk" through the streets of the city.

Mr Agyapong, known for his bold and outspoken nature, said he is the ideal candidate to defeat Mr. John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the upcoming general election.

"I assure delegates that I will defeat John Mahama hands down in the general election if elected to lead the NPP," he confidently asserted.

The NPP presidential candidate stressed his commitment to the country’s welfare, emphasizing that his vision transcends political affiliations.

Drawing inspiration from Ghana's National Anthem, he emphasized his determination to make Ghana great and strong, promising that this vision can be realized if he is chosen to lead the party.

Mr Agyapong, a Member of Parliament representing Assin Central, described himself as a truthful, unifying, patriotic, and disciplined figure who would use his qualities to unite the party's grassroots and lead them to victory in the 2024 elections.

He also called on delegates not to succumb to intimidation or external influences that may attempt to sway their votes.

"Don't be intimidated by anyone. You make the Jubilee House, so don't allow anyone to influence your vote.

“Resist or give them a showdown," he urged the delegates.
