The Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Minerals Commission, officially commissioned the Gari and Palm Oil Processing Factory in Abease, Huni-Valley on Monday, June 26, 2023.

The completion of this facility marks a significant milestone for the region and heralds a new era of economic growth and agricultural development.

According to the MCE, the Gari and Palm Oil Processing factory is expected to be a catalyst for employment generation within the municipality. It will provide numerous job opportunities for the local population, fostering economic empowerment and reducing unemployment rates.

He furthered by saying that the factory will serve as a ready market for indigenes engaged in Cassava and Oil Palm farming, providing them with a stable income source and encouraging their continued participation in agriculture.

"One of the key benefits of the factory is its role in accelerating agricultural development through value addition. Traditionally, cassava and oil palm farmers faced challenges marketing their raw produce and realizing its full potential. However, with the establishment of this processing facility, farmers can now transform their raw materials into high-value products such as gari and palm oil. This value addition not only enhances their income but also promotes agricultural productivity and profitability in the region," he stated.

The commencement of operations at the Gari and Palm Oil Processing Factory reflects the government's commitment to promoting industrialization and economic diversification in Ghana. By investing in processing facilities, the government aims to reduce post-harvest losses, boost the income of smallholder farmers, and enhance food security. Additionally, the factory aligns with the government's agenda to prioritize value addition and agro-processing as crucial drivers of economic growth and job creation.

The Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Assembly and the Minerals Commission deserve commendation for their collaborative efforts in realizing this remarkable project. Their partnership underscores the importance of public-private cooperation in advancing development goals and creating sustainable livelihoods for local communities.

Looking ahead, the Gari and Palm Oil Processing Factory in Abease, Huni Valley, holds immense promise for the Municipality and the wider region. It is expected to unlock new economic opportunities, attract investment, and contribute significantly to the socio-economic well-being of the local population. With the commencement of operations, the factory will play a pivotal role in transforming the agricultural landscape and driving inclusive growth in Huni Valley.

As the factory begins its journey, the people of Huni Valley can look forward to a brighter future characterized by increased employment, improved incomes, and a thriving agricultural sector.
