Amou Haji, an Iranian man described as the "world's dirtiest man" for not bathing for decades, has died at the age of 94.

He reportedly died in October 2022 just months after taking his first bath in over 60 years, a Historic Vids tweet reported.

Local media reported that Haji lived in a cinder block hut and was covered in soot and grime, having avoided bathing with water or soap for over six decades.

Per reports, the Tehran Times documented Haji's peculiar habits in 2014, noting that he consumed roadkill, smoked a pipe filled with animal excrement and believed cleanliness would make him sick.

However, earlier 2022 year, villagers in southern Iran finally convinced Haji to wash for the first time.

The Historic Vids Twitter account, which posted Haji's story, stressed "Amou Haji passed away in October 2022 after his first wash in six decades."
