Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini has slammed the ruling NPP government for double standards.

He said the New Patriotic Party then in opposition berated the then Mahama's administration for going to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a bailout.

According to him, the governing NPP is now celebrating after struggling to even secure the 3billion dollar IMF bailout.

Speaking on TV3 'New Day' morning show, he stated, “ one thing I like about the NPP is how they are able to sometimes even turn defeat into celebrations, we are all in this country when they told us going to the IMF is a mark of incompetence, that just seeking an IMF bailout is a mark of incompetence, that was the verdict, today we are even struggling to qualify to get a bailout, we are not qualified, we have mismanaged the economy where to a point we are not even qualified for a bailout, they are struggling to qualify for a bailout, yet they are celebrating it and they want us to congratulate them, and they want us to believe they are better."

IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva expressed confidence that the fund's Executive Board will quickly provide final approval to Ghana's bailout request in a recent press statement.

In the recent World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C., Ms. Georgieva expressed hope about the future of the nation, noting the growing support the nation was receiving from the international community, including its creditors.
