As part of the National Youth Authority's mandate of creating employment for the youth in country, the Krachi East Municipality has benefited in the Authority's new initiatives Dubbed, "Skills Towards Employment and Productivity (STEP).

Krachi East & Kadjebi District are the only two beneficiaries in the Oti region in the first focus of beneficiaries selected across the country.

Twenty (20) youths in Krachi East were selected based on merit and willingness to learn and work.

Speaking at the ceremony at the Krachi East Conference Hall, the CEO of the National Youth Authority, Hon. Pius Enam Hadzide indicated that the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's government is ready & willing to invest in the youth of the country.

"STEP" as a policy by the government, will go a long way to help the youths of Ghana. The NPP government has good policies for the youths and this is one of them, Free SHS, among others has indeed helped Ghanaians. The NYA will always leased with government to help the youth in Ghana. Restoration of the teacher training allowances are also some of the good interventions the NPP government has done to help ease our burdens,"he stated.

Addressing the beneficiaries, The CEO encouraged them to make good use of the tools given to them by the government through the NYA.

20 beneficiaries were selected across the Krachi East Municipality.

They were fully sponsored by the NYA. Working tools were purchased & apprenticeship agreements signed.

Selected beneficiaries would undergo apprenticeships as cosmetologists, multi tv installers, hairdressers and dressmakers. Their apprenticeship fees were fully sponsored.

They were advised by the CEO of NYA to take the learning process very serious since that will give another golden opportunity to other youths in the Municipality.

The Oti regional minister, Hon. Joshua Gmayenaam Makubu stressed that youth unemployment is a challenge but the NPP government has in many ways introduced policies that have positively impacted the youths of Ghana.

In his address, the Regional Minister advised beneficiaries to take this initiative very serious as it will be an additional opportunity for others.

He appealed to the CEO of NYA to consider Oti Region in its next initiative.

The Oti Regional Director of NYA Hon. Tasun John was elated with the eagerness of the beneficiaries and the smiles on their faces.

He assured the CEO of NYA that the Regional outfit will constantly be in touch with the beneficiaries, as a role that he can guarantee.
