Four communities in the middle belt of the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region have been connected to the national grid to help spur socio-economic development.

The beneficiary communities are Tiembang, Somun, Nagbengu and Salugu.

Another community which was billed to be connected to electricity was unsuccessful after suffering a technical setback.

The intervention brings to an end, several decades of waiting.

Speaking at a ceremony to connect the communities to the grid, DCE for the area, Adam Eliasu indicated that ensuring a conducive economic environment for locals to thrive and make sustainable incomes has been his long cherished dream.

Mr. Eliassu said the newly connected communities bring to 15, the number of connected communities in the District since he took office since in 2017 with 14 others at various stages of completion.

Present at the ceremony were the MP for the area, Alhaji Asei Mahama Seini and constituency executives of the NPP led by chairman Alhaji Abubakari Sulemana.
