How Corruption In Ghana Quickly Dissolves Politicians' Role In Crime Cases Without Prosecution

The fact that the Ghanaian government is working so hard to improve the nation while no one is held accountable for any crimes committed there is both sad and dumb. Lack of justice and the failure to hold corrupt politicians accountable have led to a rapid rise in corruption with no end in sight since in Ghana, high-ranking officials and elected officials never face charges that would subject them to a prison sentence.

When Nana Akufo Addo named Martin Amidu as the Special Prosecutor to combat the corruption crisis affecting Ghana, Ghanaians became quite upset because they felt that his appointment was pointless and a waste of public funds. Attacks on Mr. Amidu erupted throughout Ghana. Nobody realized that the president who appointed him also placed limitations on Amidu's ability to accomplish his duties.

As a result, Ghana has a history of creating organizations under the guise of combating corruption or other issues, but those institutions never really take off. The president, Nana Akufo, controls and limits the heads, therefore; the war against corruption has never been as successful as the president promised since he has also taken on the role of the corruptible institutions' leader.

I don't understand what a democratic administration means to the NPP, a political party that purports to uphold democracy in Ghana. There are horrifying lists of corrupt politicians in prison in the United States, but in Ghana, politicians have been implicated in more serious corruption scandals than those that put the majority of these American politicians to prison, and they still get away with it.

In Ghana, there have been numerous ongoing corruption cases, including long-running instances of politicians and government employees receiving double pay. The situation will initially draw attention and heat up as if those concerned will soon be nailed to a stake to be put to death. The case will inevitably die after a few weeks and vanish into thin air as if the crime in question had never been registered in Ghana.

The most recent instance is the LaBianca case, which involves fraudulent business dealings involving a member of the Council of State, Ms. Eunice Jacqueline Buah Asomah-Hinneh, the owner of Labianca Company Limited, and several employees of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority at the Tema port. As usual, the case will end abruptly, as if nothing ever happened.

How can a nation advance if those who perpetrate crimes are never brought to justice and charged with the wrongs they have committed? Despite all he stole and the money he accumulated in the shortest amount of time since entering politics, Eugene Arhin, the president's director of communication, is still employed by the government. Paul Adom-Otchere, Charles Bissue, Hopeson Adorye, John Boadu, Ken Agyapong, and other felons are all currently serving in the NPP government without being held accountable for the crimes in which they were complicit.

Intelligent Ghanaians will not trust the IGP Dampare if he claims today that Ken Agyapong is a free man and hasn't committed any crimes because he must appease Agyapong for the Assin Central MP to stop threatening him with information on George Dampare that is kept in the dark. The NPP's entire political structure is utterly and fundamentally corrupt. Such a regime is doomed to failure and we have witnessed it.

The NPP government's failure as a government shouldn't come as a surprise because the Mafia and other criminal activities that continue to undermine the government's efforts permeate the entire political system. It appears as though they are fetching water from a bottomless bucket. Water continues to pass through the gaps despite their best efforts, no matter how hard they try. I think they ought to quit discussing ending the eighth cycle because it is inciting the agony of Ghanaians.

When Mr. Kojo Owusu Afriyie - Sir John, the CEO of the Forestry Commission, passed away, his will revealed him to be one of the most dishonest NPP politicians. The late politician had registered and owned land in the Achimota Forest Reserve and opposed selling off public lands. Ghanaians were astounded by his fortune within the shortest time after entering politics.

The embattled Special Prosecutor announced that the late NPP politician's assets had been frozen. He was under pressure from being exposed as incompetent and corrupt. The president, Nana Akufo Addo, ordered the release of the frozen assets just a few days prior. If you believe Nana Akufo Addo or the NPP can improve Ghana, how smart are you as a Ghanaian?

Even though the NDC party was accused of being thieves, the high levels of thieving, corruption, crime, unemployment, and debt have never been seen in Ghana under a government other than the NPP. It's sad, but it's true that this particular party still has no strategies for the near or long term to restore the people and the economy.

Ghana can keep having leaders who believe they are above the law and hence refuse to put politicians in jail for their crimes. While small thieves are being imprisoned for stealing food and other items, judges, government workers, and politicians steal frequently and engage in vast corruption, however, no one is ever prosecuted for their crimes.

Ghanaians must make it clear to any government that takes over from this ineffective NPP government that they would not receive any support if they choose not to imprison thieves and criminals who hold high office. If that's how America conducts its government, it won't be a better place for those dishonest Ghanaian political thieves to go on vacation and for medical care.
