The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect believed to be behind the death of 39-year-old Francis Dawson, who was murdered and burnt at Fiifi Pratt, a suburb of Gomoa Nyanyano last year.

The suspect was arrested at Fetentaa, a suburb of Berekum in the Bono region including two women.

On October 16, 2021, the victim Francis Dawson, was picked from his residence at dawn by some men claiming to be police officers to the station.

Although the victim was arrested in the presence of his wife, the suspects declined to reveal the name of the station to the wife during the arrest.

The wife upon several searches at the police stations within the district in the morning found the remains of the victim burnt at Fiifi Pratt, a suburb of Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District.

Addressing the media, Deputy Regional Commander ACP Oduro Amaning, said, a lead suspect known as Michael Osei aka Major upon interrogation mentioned that he was tasked by one of the suspects, Rose Cobbah to only lead them to the victim’s residence.

Further investigations cited Kwame Tieku Mensah Baah, 47years old as the main suspect.

He was therefore placed on the police track list.

ACP Oduro Amaning told newsmen that, the suspect Kwame Teiko Baah kept relocating to places in the Volta and Northern regions until he was finally arrested including two female suspects, Rose Essel Cobbah, age 31, and Kyeremaah Bernice, age 41 at Fetentaa, a suburb of Berekum in the Bono region.

During the arrest, the police retrieved 53 passports, 16 rolls of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 9 mobile phones, 8 SIM cards, valid ID cards of some persons as well as other traveling documents.

The Police also disclosed that the suspects arrested earlier in connection with the murder have been remanded.

The Central East Regional Police Command was curved out of the Central Regional Command by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare in 2021 due to the heightening crime rate in the Awutu Senya East Municipality and its adjoining districts.

The coming into being of the regional command in its effort to curb crime has made several arrests of criminals reducing the crime rate in the area.
