Mr Sugandh Rajaram, the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, Monday assured of his effort to strengthen the relations between India and the Bono East Region through agriculture investment.

He said agricultural investment would boost the socio-economic development of the two countries to improve human development.

The High Commissioner said India, over the years, had made progress in agriculture and would, therefore, shared its experience with the region, which was poised to become the hub of agriculture in the country.

Mr Rajaram gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy call on Mr Kwasi Adu-Gyan, the Regional Minister, at his office at Techiman.

The call commences his four-day working visit to the region to have first-hand information about the area and prepare the grounds for agro-investment promotion between the two sides.

Mr Rajaram said working together would also promote human resource development to improve the socio-economic fortunes of the people, especially the youth through job-creation.

He said India's support for the region would create strong agriculture mechanism to promote holistic development and announced that some Indian business entities had already expressed interest to invest in the region.

Mr Adu-Gyan lauded India's preparedness to partner with region, saying the relations would propel the region to realise its dream as the preferred destination for agro-processing.

He said the Government was committed to establishing mechanized agriculture centres to create opportunities for the youth to actively engage in agriculture for wealth creation.

He announced the region's efforts to establish the University for Science and Technology to focus on encouraging commercial agriculture and other science and technology related programmes.

The High Commissioner later had separate meetings with the heads of decentralised departments and the Techiman Traditional Council to discuss issues pertaining to the realisation of the Bono East-India relations.

Mr Rajaram was accompanied by Mr James Rahjamani, the Chief Executive Officer for Kingdom Exim Group and Chief Chancellor for India Africa Trade Council.
