JUN 25, 2021 LISTEN

Ghana which is situated on the Gold Coast of Africa has a 535km long shoreline with lagoons and mangrove forests inclusive. It was once a slave country enslaved to the British, after years of enslavement it decided to take control of its territories by seeking for "independence". In 1957, independence was born and a republic formed. From there onwards the name Ghana became a household name and has gained global dominance till now.

The nation has abundant natural resources which includes timber, cocoa, cashew, gold, diamond, bauxite, manganese, oil and many more. Research has proved that Ghana is known to be one of the most successful countries in West Africa but is largely dependent on foreign aids.

Ghana is known globally for its peace and smooth flow of elections. Power transitions have relatively been peaceful over the years and has contributed to one of the country's most greatest successes. The 1992 constitution with over 297 articles is the highest law of the land which every Ghanaian appreciates and commits to.

Although Ghana has an abundance in natural resources it is however still baffling and thought provoking how poverty has managed to keep it in its claws for so long. Based on ground facts and historical records, Ghana has not had any improvements in development for quite some time now and it's really devastating, thus the reason for this article.

The mode of operation of this beautiful African country is something I find difficult to comprehend because of the rate at which disgusting and unprecedented issues keep on knocking on our doors. We are being faced with thousands of issues everyday which all have had devastating effects on our economy and our lives in general.

We are currently in every crisis one can name; health, education, infrastructure, economic, employment to name only a few. Government and us the citizens have all contributed to this crisis which has made living in Ghana unbearable and disheartening.
