German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on Friday confirmed the signing of Leroy Sané from Manchester City.

The 24-year-old Germany international signed a five-year deal after four years at Manchester City where he won seven trophies including two Premier League crowns.

"FC Bayern is a very big club and has big goals. These goals suit me as well," Sane said.

"I'm looking forward to the new challenge and can't wait to train with the team. I want to win as many titles as possible with FC Bayern and the Champions League is at the top.”

On Saturday, Bayern can add the German Cup to their eighth consecutive Bundesliga title. They take on Bayer Leverkusen in the final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

Though technically available for that game, Bayern's bosses said Sané would start preparing for next season.

Bayern did not reveal transfer fee. But sources say Bayern paid around 60 million euros for the forward.

"We are happy that we can welcome Leroy Sané to Bayern," said Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "He is an excellent player who has proven his qualities over the past years, especially in the national team."

Sané scored 39 goals in 135 matches in all competitions for City following his move from the Bundesliga club Schalke in 2016. His final year at City was marred by an injury suffered during the Community Shield match in August against Liverpool.

He returned to action in the Premier League last week against Burnley.

"We wish Leroy all the best in this new chapter of his career," said City coach Pep Guardiola. "Leroy has been part of one of the most special periods in this club's history and he leaves with the best wishes of everyone here at Manchester City."

Sané is Bayern's third recruit for next season. On Wednesday, 18-year-old defender Tanguy Nianzou Kouassi and the 23-year-old goalkeeper  Alexander Nuebel were drafted in on free signings from Paris Saint-Germain and Schalke respectively.

"With Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman and Leroy, we are now very well occupied at the highest level on the wing, positions that are important for our game," said Bayern's sports director Hasan Salihamidzic.
