The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has suspended all movie productions involving riverine areas and boat riding indefinitely.

It has also banned its members from working with producer Adamma Luke, following a boat accident on Wednesday, April 10, that killed actor Junior Pope and four others.

In a statement signed by AGN President Dr. Emeka Rollas on Thursday, April 11, the guild leadership took the "difficult but necessary" actions in light of last Thursday's tragic incident at the Asaba waterside, where Pope and the crew were filming scenes for Luke's production "The Other Side of Life".

"Following the tragic incident of boat mishap that claimed the life of Mr John Paul Odonwodo aka Junior Pope and four other crew members...the Leadership of the Guild has taken the following decisions," said Dr. Rollas in the statement.

The decisions included cancelling all shoots nationwide on April 11th, suspending the filming of "The Other Side of Life", “till further notice".

"While we keep searching for the bodies of the remaining persons may their soul rest in peace," Dr. Rollas added.

The suspension and ban aim to ensure the safety of AGN members going forward, as the circumstances around last week's accident are still under investigation.
