Adisadel College emerge table tennis champions

Cape Coast, Oct. 28 GNA - Adisadel College emerged the Zone one table tennis champions of the Central Region Inter Schools and Colleges table tennis tournament played at the college's grounds on Thursday. They beat Cape Coast Technical Institute 3-1 to lift the championship trophy.

The other seven other schools that participated in the competition were Ghana National College, Aggrey Memorial Zion, Aburaman and Edinaman Secondary schools, Academy of Christ the King and Komenda Secondary Technical school.

In the girls' soccer competition, Ghana National College beat Aggrey Memorial 4-1 on penalties to lift the championship trophy. In another development, Cape Coast Technical Institute combined skills with stamina to hold Cape Coast Venomous Vipers to a 1-1 drawn game in a friendly football match played at the Robert Mensah Sports stadium.

The lads from the technical institute started the game on a fast note and took command of proceedings and rightly went ahead to score the opener in the 20th minute through their centre half, Ofori Prah, after he received a pass from the midfield and outran Vipers defence to slot home the ball to the blind side of the Vipers keeper. The students continued to probe for more goals but over elaboration and hanging unto the ball in the vital area denied them any further goals.

Vipers, however, forced the tide in their favour and piled pressure on the students and went ahead earn the much-needed equalizer in the 50th minute through inside left, Joseph Addae. Both sides played a good game from then on with none able to outdo each other till the final whistle to bring the scores to one all.
