Accra, June 2, GNA – The Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) will on Saturday, June 6, organize the National Seniors Singles Open Championship at the D. G. Hathiramani Sports Hall at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra.
A statement issued and signed by Mr Kwame Amponfi Jnr, Secretary General of GTTA copied to GNA Sports said the competition is aimed at selecting players for the national seniors' model team to prepare for international assignments.
It said all the ten regions of Ghana and the eight National Security Services are expected to participate in the championship, which is being sponsored by the Chairman of the GTTA, Squadron Leader Ebo Bartels.
The statement, however, noted that participants will be responsible for their feeding and accommodation and called on the Regional Sports authorities and the Security Services to sponsor their candidates.
In attendance will be the GTTA Chairman and the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Sports Council, (NSC) Mr Wolarnyo K. Agra.
The championship, according to the statement will commence at 10:00am and end at 5:00pm and has attractive cash prizes for the first to fourth winners in both the men and women divisions.
