RB Salzburg midfielder, Forson Amankwah, has earned his debut call-up to Ghana's national team, the Black Stars, ahead of upcoming friendly matches against Nigeria and Uganda.

The 21-year-old's inclusion comes as a result of an injury to Elisha Owusu sustained during Auxerre's recent league fixture against Caen.

Mohammed Diomande, also named in the squad, is unlikely to feature in these friendlies due to delays in his naturalization process.

Amankwah's late inclusion bolsters a midfield that was considered light after Owusu's injury. Although previously uncapped for the Black Stars or any of Ghana's youth teams, Amankwah's talent was recognized when he was named in Chris Hughton's 55-man provisional squad for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Having caught the attention of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in recent months, Amankwah's call-up is seen as a natural progression in his career.

The GFA has initiated the visa process for Amankwah's trip to Morocco, where the national team is currently based.

Amankwah's journey to the top began in the Ghana Premier League with WAFA before making the leap to European football with Salzburg.

During his time with the Austrian club, he has gained experience on loan spells with Liefering and Rheindorf Altach. This season, he has established himself as a key player for Salzburg, featuring prominently in both domestic league matches and UEFA Champions League fixtures.

Primarily an attacking midfielder, Amankwah's versatility allows him to operate as a number 10 or deputize in a deeper role. His dedication to earning a spot in the national team has paid off, and he is determined to make the most of this opportunity.
