Liberty Professionals last Tuesday beat city rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak, 4-3 on penalties at Dansoman after the two sides drew 1-1 in regulation time in one of special matches organised as part of Ghana's celebration of the 50th independence anniversary.

Felix Baffoe, Danladi Sheriff, Emmanuel Baffour and David Gyamfi converted their kicks for Liberty, while Tua Khamix missed.

Stanley Afedzie, Nana Egyir and Eric Gawu scored for Hearts, while Auroras graduates, Samuel Affum and Nuhu Ibrahim, missed their kicks.

Joseph Tachie Menson bent a freekick from 20 metres into the Liberty post after 28 minutes and Hearts held on to the lead until the 77th minute when Rabiu Mohammed connected a header to a cross from the right to draw Liberty level.

Until then, Hearts had survived on the brilliance of young substitute goalkeeper, Collins Addo, whose save from George Appiah's penalty in the 58th minute, as well as his interventions in the 63rd and 70th minutes drew wild applause from the crowd.
