Following Asamoah Gyan’s debut for Legon Cities FC on Friday evening, the forward says it feels great to play again in the Ghana Premier League after 17 years.

The celebrated striker last played in the Ghanaian top-flight league in 2003 when he was contracted to Liberty Professionals.

After an illustrious career that saw Asamoah Gyan playing for some top clubs abroad, he is now back in his home country where he has signed for Legon Cities FC.

Today, he finally marked his debut for the Royal Club in a 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League Matchday 3 fixture against Medeama SC.

In an encounter that ended goalless at the end of the 90 minutes at the Accra Sports Stadium, Asamoah Gyan expressed his delight in his post-match interview.

“I am very much excited to be back home. This is where the name, Asamoah Gyan started and it feels great to play in the league again after 17-years,” the experienced forward shared.

Asamoah Gyan, 35, further expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the game against Medeama SC while noting that Legon Cities FC will soon start winning games to make fans happy.

“I am very much satisfied with the game tonight. It’s a positive one. We need to approach the next game with this same mentality and I believe soon the wins will come,” he added.
