Coach at FC Nordsjaelland, Dramani Mas-Ud Didi says he is confident Ghana will qualify for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament despite losing to Sudan.

The Black Stars on Tuesday lost to their counterpart from Sudan by a goal to nil at the end of a clash at the Al-Hilal Stadium in Omdurman.

With that stumble, Group C of the qualifiers to the next AFCON has been blown wide. Ghana, South Africa, and Sudan all now have the chance to secure qualification at the end of the series.

Speaking to Hot FM on Wednesday morning, Coach Didi Dramani has expressed optimism in Ghana’s chances of making it to the next continental showpiece as he calls for support for Black Stars head coach CK Akonnor.

“Ghana will surely qualify to AFCON despite losing to Sudan yesterday. We should not blame the coach we should support him for him,” Coach Didi said.

The former Kotoko coach added, “We should build the team around the experienced players in the team like the Wakaso, Dede Ayew John Boye Jordan Ayew, etc for us to get a strong team. For the nation to build a team is a gradual process so we should take time for CK Akonnor.”

Assessing Ghana’s performance in the Sudan defeat, Coach Didi Dramani has noted that the team missed the likes of Andre Ayew and Thomas Partey.
