Public cautioned against the use of 'waste and power' bitters

Kumasi, March 10, GNA - The Foods and Drugs board has cautioned the public against the use of "waste and power" and "one touch aromatic" bitters for the treatment of waits pains, sexual weakness and other sex related ailments.

A statement issued in Kumasi on Friday and signed by Mr Joseph Bennie, Zonal officer for Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions, said the board had not registered any alcoholic beverage such as "waist and power" and "one touch aromatic" bitters for the treatment of ailments. It said such medical claims made in respect of any alcoholic beverage such as those mentioned were not only fraudulent but constituted a deception of the public.

The statement called on the media to consider in the interest of the public health and safety to desist from advertising such products as a cure for ailments.

It called on the manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors of "waist and power and "one touch aromatic" bitters to recall their products from the market and return them to the Foods and Drugs board. The statement also advised the public to refrain from consuming any alcoholic beverage for the treatment of any sex related conditions.
