OCT 22, 2019 LISTEN

The National Identification Authority has extended its mass registration exercise in the Northern, North East and Savannah Regions by one week.

The registration exercise will now end on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, other than the initial October 23 deadline.

In a release, the Authority entreated the residents to make good use of the extension to register for their Ghana cards.

“The general public should kindly take note that all registration centres will continue to register applicants till Wednesday 30th October 2019. All prospective applicants are entreated to take advantage of the extension period to get registered.”

According to the NIA, it will be creating permanent offices across the country to register individuals who miss out on the stipulated durations at no cost.

“Permanent NIA offices will be established at the Regional, Municipal and District levels by March 2020 to afford all Ghanaians who were not registered during the mass registration exercise the opportunity to get registered and be issued with the Ghana Card for free.”

The Ghana card registration exercise in the Northern Regions was hampered by logistical challenges.
