The Minister of Education, Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has visited and consoled with the family of the slain teacher at Asiakwa, in the Eastern Region, with the assurance of offering the needed support to the family.

Amid sobbers, the minister stated that his ministry, the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and the various stakeholders, are determined to seek justice for the slain teacher.

Mr. George Somuah Bosompem, who was a teacher at Salvation Army Basic School, in Asiakwa, was gruesomely murdered by some young boys in the hitherto peaceful community, recently.

Napo, as he is affectionately called, was accompanied by the Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Prof. Opoku Amankwa, to commiserate with the bereaved family.

The sector minister condemned the decision of the youngsters to kill the innocent teacher, stressing that the perpetrators of the heinous crime would be dealt with by the laws of the state.

“My ministry will make sure that the security agencies would be given the full support so that anyone that has a hand in the killing of the innocent teacher will be made to face the law.

“The Education Ministry and the GES would offer the needed support to the bereaved family so that the late George Somuah Bosompem would be given a befitting burial,” he added.

Napo also appealed to the teachers of the Salvation Army Basic School at Asiakwa to quickly return to class and work, assuring them maximum security will be provided.

He also admonished teachers, especially, those that are fond of visiting the social media to peddle falsehood about the noble teaching profession, to desist from doing so, since their action do not help seek justice for bereaved family.

The bereaved family, in unison, commended Napo for taking time out of his tight schedule in Accra to visit and commiserate with them, pointing out that his historic visit clearly shows that he is a caring minister.
