The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akyem North Constituency, Hon Andy Appiah Kubi, and the District Chief Executive as part of activities to mark this year’s Christmas festivities has joined the youth of Oweriman, Agogo and Amantenaman at separately organized soccer competitions where he made donation of cash, jerseys and footballs to the youth in these communities. The three(3) enclaves grouped into zones battled it out for the ultimate.

The Honourable member urged the youth to shun all forms of social vices and activities that endangers their lives and threatens social cohesion in the constituency and Ghana as a whole.

He encourged the youth to rather channel their energy into productive ventures that will help them secure a better future for themselves and their families.

Lawyer Andy Appiah Kubi in an interview with pressmen on the sidelines of the games affirmed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government’s commitment in giving the youth of Ghana the opportunities they need to excel.

He further emphasized the commitment of President Akuffo Addo towards the development of Agogo communities and made reference to the allocation of four factories for the Agogo enclave under the 1D-1F program. He said the advent of these factories will lead to massive employment opportunities for the teeming youth in the area.

The revered law maker asked for continuous prayers and support from Christians all over Ghana.

The MP assured all youth under his jurisdiction of his preparedness to address their concerns. He pledged to continue strenghtening the strong ties between the communities in his constituency by organizing such fun games as he has done over the years.

In all, 42 teams participated in the week long program which lasted from the 24th to 30th December. The whole program was climaxed on the 1st of January with Agogo Newtown taking home the ultimate.

For their reward, they took home an amount of Ghc1000, a trophy, a set of Jersey and a football. The 1st Runner up, Behwe/Dawereso, also received an amount of Ghc500, a set of Jersey and a football.

The third placed team, Agogo Obuasi, went home with an amount of Ghc300, a set of Jersey and a football.

In all, 8 teams were presented with sets of jerseys and other items translating into thousands of Ghana cedis.

This was the fourth time the Honourable Member of Parliament had organized such games for his constituents since ascending to become the legislator for the area.

The hugely successful event was graced by notable figures such as the Head coach of Ghana Black Stars, James Kwasi Appiah, Black Stars midfielder Rabiu Mohammed, Former Kotoko captain, Ernest Papa Arko among many others.
