The Member of Parliament for Prestea /Huni-Valley constituency , who doubles as the Deputy Minister, Lands and Natural Resources, Mrs. Barbara Oteng Gyasi together with the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Mozart Owuh, have presented food items and money to the people of Apinto Awodua in the Western Region towards this year’s Amankumaa festival slated for December 14th to 16th.

The items included 30 bags of rice, 30 crates of canned soft drink, 20 boxes of bottle water,10 boxes of cooking oil, 10 boxes of tin tomato, 10 waste bins and an undisclosed amount of money.

The donation made to the Apinto Awodua traditional council is an annual support from the MP and MCE to the people of Awodua during Amankumaa festival.

Hon. Mozart Owuh, MCE for Prestea / Huni-Valley Municipal Assembly, presenting the items on behalf of the MP and his good self, called on the authorities of Apinto Traditional Council to ensure that, the people of Apinto celebrated the festival peacefully.

He appealed to opinion leaders and elders to advise the youth to desist from engaging in unacceptable and inappropriate behaviour during the celebration.

“I entreat you all, especially the youth to ensure that this year’s Amankumaa is celebrated in a peaceful atmosphere. Let us show unity and love towards one another before, during and after the occasion,” he added.

On his part, the Apinto Hene, Nana Kwabena Angu II, thanked the MP and the MCE for the kind gesture.

Hon. Lawyer Mrs Barbara Oteng Gyasi who is also the guest of honor at this year's Amankumaa festival will be speaking on the theme: 'The ban on small scale mining, it’s Socio Economic impact and the way forward' on Saturday, 15th December, 2018 at the T and A park in Tarkwa.
