Ghana Beyond Aid Impossible If We Lose Fight Against Corruption – CDD Ghana

Director for advocacy and Policy Engagement at Center for Democratic Development (CDD Ghana) Dr. Kojo Asante has stressed that it will be impossible to achieve a Ghana beyond aid aspiration if the country does not win the fight against corruption.

According to him corruption is gradually becoming a way of life of some people which is bad. He believes the country can never meet the development aspirations with the kind of growing corruption in the country. He shares the view that the country will fail in its quest to live without aid if we do not prioritize getting rid of the canker.

Dr. Kojo Asante made the pronouncement in an interview with Class FM over the weekend as Ghana joined the rest of the world to mark international anti-corruption day. The CDD official has urged the entire populace to join the fight against the act which has hindered the country’s progress in many ways.

“This week has been the National anti-corruption day. It was launched at the beginning of the week and we chose this week because we wanted to really make a statement about corruption in the country.

“We think that we have gotten to a place where it is becoming normal. People are getting used to it. They consider it as a way of life but from where we stand we can never build a Ghana beyond aid, we can never meet the development aspirations with this kind of corruption. We will fail and I don’t think it is a society that anybody really wants to live in.

“So we thought that it is time citizens begin to engage on this subject and to take a stand and really work together with government and everybody to make sure we begin to tackle this and really eradicate corruption”, Dr. Kojo Asante shared.

The Ghana Anti-Corruption coalition in line with this has also made an appeal to government to pass the RTI bill and other key anti-corruption bills such as the conduct of the public officer’s bill and the whistle blowers bill to boost the fight against the act.
