Akua Mobie, who bought the five tins of stolen Akpeteshei pleaded not guilty to dishonestly receiving and was bonded over to be of good behaviour for six months or will go to jail for 12 months in default. Police Chief Inspector Archibald K. Fand told the court, presided over by Mr Noble Nkruma that Mr Kofi Adjei, the complainant distils Akpeteshie at Ntensere.

He said the complainant, who started distilling the drink at Ntensere about two months ago, detected that about 21 tins of his drink valued at 3.5 million cedis were stolen. Chief Inspector Fand said after close of work on October 6 this year the complainant left a large quantity of Akpeteshie soda at his distillery but the next day, he detected that a quantity of the soda had been stolen.

The prosecution said through his own investigations, the complainant found out that it was the accused persons who stole the five tins of Akpeteshie and sold them to Madam Mobie at Ntensere. He said a report was therefore made to the police who arrested the two friends and after investigations charged them with the offence.
