The Founder and President of Concerned Voters Movement (CVM), Razak Kojo Opoku has opined that the celebration of Kwame Nkrumah's birthday is meaningless, added that unless the day is linked up with the total liberation and revival of Nkrumaiast parties on the political landscape of Ghana.

Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was the first President of Ghana and was born at Nkroful in Ellembelle of the Western Region on 21st September 1909.

Celebration of Founder's Day, introduced by the administration of Prof. John Evans Atta Mills since 2010, had been an annual feast of divisiveness which was not auguring well for the unity of the country.

There is a school of thought that believes the day should be marked as Founders' Day in honour of other independence day agitators that started the fight for Ghana's liberation from British colonial rule before Kwame Nkrumah came on the scene.

But in a statement signed by the CVM boss and copied to the media said the Day is meaningless and added that the CPP as a political party should be vibrant opposition and win more seats before thinking about the celebration.

"The celebration of Nkrumah's Birthday is meaningless unless it is linked up with the total liberation and revival of Nkrumaist Parties on the political landscape of Ghana", the statement emphasized.

According to the statement "The followers of Nkrumaist tradition have really disappointed Kwame Nkrumah with their abysmal electoral performance of 0.01-0.02% Presidential Votes plus zero Parliamentary Seats".

"Communicators of CPP, PNC, PPP and other Nkrumaist are doing their possible best to move from one radio station to another and one TV Station to another to communicate the ideas and ideals of Kwame Nkrumah but at the end of every general elections their collective efforts does not even cross 1% of the total Presidential Votes in Ghana", the statement added.

"Kwame Nkrumah as a well respected Global Icon deserves a vibrant Political tradition and not the current dumsor NKrumaist Parties", the statement jabbed.

Independence struggle
Mr Nkrumah said Ghanaians had no doubts in their minds about the role Dr Kwame Nkrumah and the other members of the Big Six played in the independence struggle.

He stated that already, many African countries were honouring Dr Nkrumah for his role in the independence struggle, adding that he would not need any of their definition and introduction.

Mr. Nkrumah noted that what was missing now was how to use Dr Nkrumah’s name to attract investors and tourists into the country for the benefit of the people.

He said the role of the Big Six in the independence struggle ought to be a unifying force for the country to rally around instead of a source of divisiveness, saying what unites the country should be more than what divides it.

Below is the full statement
KWAME NKRUMAH'S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION IS MEANINGLESS UNLESS IT IS LINKED UP WITH THE REVIVAL AND LIBERATION OF NKRUMAIST PARTIES

The celebration of Nkrumah's Birthday is meaningless unless it is linked up with the total liberation and revival of Nkrumaist Parties on the political landscape of Ghana.

The followers of Nkrumaist tradition have really disappointed Kwame Nkrumah with their abysmal electoral performance of 0.01-0.02% Presidential Votes plus zero Parliamentary Seats.

We are urging the Electoral Commission of Ghana to consolidate the Nkrumaist Parties so that they can become a vibrant opposition Party alongside the NDC.

Communicators of CPP, PNC, PPP and other Nkrumaist are doing their possible best to move from one radio station to another and one TV Station to another to communicate the ideas and ideals of Kwame Nkrumah but at the end of every general elections their collective efforts does not even cross 1% of the total Presidential Votes in Ghana.

The Nkrumaist Parties need a Consolidation Model to survive on the political landscape of Ghana.

Kwame Nkrumah as a well respected Global Icon deserves a vibrant Political tradition and not the current dumsor NKrumaist Parties.

Signed!
