Nana Addo Is A President Of Our Time--Says Agona West MCE

Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan has described H. E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana as a President of our time who sees the present and future needs of the people.

" Am saying so because of his boldness in the implementation of long term social policies to lessen financial burden of ordinary citizenry in the country.

Introduction of Free SHS couple with the Double Track system, Planting for Food and Jobs, YEA, recruitment of teachers, NABCO, Reduction in electricity tariffs and others are social interventions meant to better the lives of the people.

These are policies and innovations which some leaders had no idea and never thought it could generate employment for teeming unemployed people in the country"

Hon. Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan stated these when the Agona West Municipal

Assembly in the Central Region distributed working tools to 36 Persons With Disabilities to empower them economically.

Set up capital ranging from Ghc 400.00 and Ghc 1,000.00 were also disbursed to 90 beneficiaries to either start or expand their various businesses.

According to the MCE, the tools and monies were to empower them to expand their businesses.

" We did not choose who should benefit from what we have given them. They individually wrote a request to the Assembly depending upon what they have intend using the tools and the funds to make a living.

A committee including Representatives from Federation of Disabled in the Municipality was set up to look into their request and responded positively to individual request.

" Nana Addo led NPP government's policies and interventions have been well crafted to suit the needs of individual citizen in the country including Persons With Disabilities.

Every Ghanaian can attest to the fact that the people are seeing positive change in the country. They are really feeling the change they wished for when they gladly participated in the 2016 General Elections.

Today's presentations indicates NPP government's commitment towards the well-being of Persons With Disabilities. The Agona West Municipal Assembly has been in bed with Federation of Disabled in the Municipality to ensure that they gets their fair share of the national cake.

There is togetherness between the Disabled and the Assembly making sure there is coexistence between the two. The Assembly is safe guarding the Disability Fund component of the Common Fund to benefit PWDs in the municipality.

Nana Akufo Addo led NPP Government thought it wise to empower the Disabled with working tools to sustain them economically thus increasing it from 2% to 3% to cover more people.

The Agona West Municipal Assembly is posed to make life meaningful to Persons With Disabilities so that they could contribute their quota towards national development "

The Agona West Municipal Director of Social Development, Mr. Robert K. Baah in an interview with newsmen said his outfit has been engaging PWDs monitor their living conditions.

Mr. Baah was optimistic that amount of monies and tools given them would be put into useful usage by expanding their businesses as well as feeding themselves and that of their families.

" We have sensitized them on bookkeeping and there is high hopes that they won't disgrace the society. Records available shows the seriousness of PWDs in the municipality.

They are found busily working in every sector of the economy to earn a living. Some are teachers, artisans, farmers, petty traders with others working in the hospitality industry.

Let me thank His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and his NPP government for regular inflow of the Common Fund for PWDs to access the fund regularly "

Mr. Robert K Baah noted that public education was being carried out in all the communities in the municipality on the need for parents to take proper care of children with special needs in their homes.

The Chairman of the Ghana Federation of the Disabled in the Agona West Municipality, Mr. Kofi Asante lauded the government putting joy into the heart of Persons With Disabilities in the Municipality.

He assured that monies and items given them would be put into useful usage and ensure culture of maintenance for sustainability.
