Sege (GAR), July 26, GNA - Mr Ebenezer Okai, Chief Executive Officer of Global Street Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has called on parents to invest in the education of their children.

He said investing in the education of their wards would go a long way to secure the future of their children and help them to contribute to the development of the nation.

Mr Okai made the call when the NGO donated items worth GH¢7,000.00 to the Sorkope D/A Basic School at Sorkope, near Sege, in the Ada West District of the Greater Accra Region, on Thursday.

The items included educational materials, two set of jerseys, a football and plastic containers for storing water.

Mr Okai said the NGO provides for the needy and supports the less-privileged in communities.

He said the foundation would soon roll out a programme to offer vocational training to some street children in the Greater Accra Region, to enable them to go into viable ventures and also keep them off from the streets.

Mr Okai expressed the hope that the items would be put to good use and urged the pupils to take their studies seriously.

Mr Daniel Tetteh Agbogbanu, Head teacher of the school, who received the items, thanked the NGO for the kind gesture and called on other Non-Governmental Organizations to come to their aid.

Dr Seth Horsu, a United Kingdom-based Medical Practitioner, urged the teachers to desist from all forms of negative tendencies that may bring the teaching profession into disrepute.
