GNPC To Construct $250,000 Astroturf For SDA SHS

The Ghana National Petroleum Commission (GNPC) has cut a sod for the construction of Astroturf at SDA Senior High School in the Bekwai municipality of the Ashanti region.

The sod cutting of the artificial sports stadium is in fulfilment of a promise made by the GNPC to the school, during its 65th anniversary celebration.

The CEO of the Petroleum Commission, Dr. K.K Sarpong, speaking at the sod cutting disclosed that "the facility worth $250,000 is expected to be completed in six calender months".

Mr K.K Sarpong who is also an old student of SDASS mentioned that the contractor of the project was wisely selected, and promised all financial provision is available to complete the project on time.

his project, he said, is among many other facilitated Astroturfs the commission will experiment this year.

He reiterated his outfit upon completion of the project will undertake maintanance monitoring for sustainability.

On his part, the Headmaster of the School, Mr George Oduro Yeboah, expressed his heartfelt appreciation saying, the ultramodern sports facility will unify the people in the area.

"This, we believe, is also going to uplift and instill discipline, excellent relationships, good team spirit and respect for rules and regulations," the headmaster stated.

He further added that the facility upon completion will aid students who are prime beneficiaries become tolerant of situations and also open other opportunities to them.

Mr George Oduro Yeboah pledged to put the facility to good use, and to ensure its regular maintainance to maximize its usefulness.
