The 2018 edition of Salafest, an annual feast and musical festival aimed at bringing together Muslim communities in Accra, has been launched.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Sallahfest; and the milestone will be celebrated in grand style with the inclusion of new activities aimed at spicing up the festival and creating more marketing opportunities for sponsors.

The event, which is scheduled to take place at the end of the Ramadan fasting, will be held on the streets of Nima.

The festival is organized by EXP Ghana, an Experimental Marketing Agency, in collaboration with Hip life group 'VVIP' and Chapter O and sponsored by MTN.

Speaking at the launch, the Chief of Nima, Nii Futah, highlighted the importance of the Ramadan saying it was a month in which Muslims all over the world show generosity to others.

''The month of Ramadan is a remarkable month throughout the history of Islam, a month where rewards and alms are doubled. We should be active in spending our wealth to help those who are less fortunate in our society,'' he stated.

He also admonished the youth of Nima to avoid deviant behavior in the area and be good ambassadors in society.

Nii Futah also commended the organizers and MTN for their consistency and the use of Nima as the venue for the event, adding that, ''my community is most grateful.''

Prodigal, a member of 'VVIP' said the community contributed immensely towards their success and that there was the need for the group to organize the event in Nima.

He also revealed that, they will be giving schorlaships to needy but brilliant students in the community as part of efforts to give back to the community.
