Total Petroleum Ghana Limited supported the 4th Annual Innovation and Career Fair of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) held on 6th April, 2018.

Students had the opportunity to showcase their creative ideas through science and technology driven projects and applications. It was a medium for participants to engage with major stakeholders in the mining, petroleum and allied industries and share ideas to create solutions that meet daily operational needs.

'Total Petroleum Ghana Limited co-sponsored this event to encourage entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation among the Ghanaian youth.' said the Recruitment, Training and Development Manager, Daniel Danquah, who represented the company at the event.

The fair attracted over five hundred students and employees of the university who not only got in touch with representatives from various industries but also familiarized themselves with the nature of their businesses and know the opportunities that exist for students and graduates.

Speaking on the motivation behind their support, the Recruitment, Training and Development Manager, Daniel Danquah said that Total Petroleum Ghana Limited, has kept focus on education for so many years and thus supports a lot of educational initiatives and projects. He stated that the company also sponsored the career fair of the University of Ghana, held in March earlier this year.

He further added that 'Total Petroleum Ghana Limited offers yearly scholarships and financial aid to students of UMaT and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) through their academic office. The company opens its doors to about forty student interns from all universities to develop their skills and knowledge and equip them for the future.' He further added that 'the company since 2016 has put in place the Total Young Graduate programme, an 18-month programme which aims at developing the Ghanaian youth through training and capacity building with the mentorship of experts in the local Affiliate and other Total Affiliates.' 'For the past two years, Total Petroleum Ghana Limited has successfully developed eight young Ghanaians: four of them are to return back to Ghana after a successful programme in France, Kenya and Uganda; and the other four are set to leave for other Total Affiliates to continue the next phase of the programme.'
