Agriculture Has A New Face - UFRC To Be Launched on 27th April
18.04.2018 LISTEN

Despite the availability of the energetic human and material resources for agricultural production, Ghana is still not self-sufficient in food production and therefore has to rely on huge importation of food from other countries. One reason for this unfortunate state of our country is that the over 2000 graduates of agriculture and related disciplines who leave college with requisite scientific skills and knowledge in food production do not end up in agribusiness.

This is mainly due to lack of access to material and monetary resources, low investor confidence in agriculture and some unfortunate wrong perceptions about the farming enterprise as a whole. It is as a result of this that CIEDOM-HOG international, CIEDOM-HOG Ghana and school of agriculture, University of Cape Coast have developed the Ultimate Farmer Reality Challenge to make agriculture attractive to the youth and investors whiles finding tailor made solutions to the numerous challenges in agriculture.

CIEDOM-HOG International; a Christian based NGO registered in Ghana with the aim of engendering the interest of the African youth in agribusiness through a series of innovative techniques structured across the entire agriculture value chain, withCIEDOM-HOG Ghana; a subsidiary company of CIEDOM-HOG in partnership with The School of Agriculture, University of Cape Coast and supported by the Regional Universities Forum For Capacity Building (RUFORUM), International Association of Students in Agriculture and Related Sciences (IAAS), Ghana Chamber of Agribusiness, Food Safety Action Network (FSAN), Young Professionals for Agriculture Development (YPARD), National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), Messiah Entertainment, Okere Trust, Project Management Institute(PMI) and other stakeholders have developed a comprehensive value chain approach that is proactively cut to promote agribusiness amongst the youth of Africa through a series of innovative channels dubbed: THE ULTIMATE FARMER REALITY CHALLENGE (UFRC)

The program which is to be launched on Friday the 27th of April 2018 at the Legon Botanical Gardens is expected to gather the biggest agricultural groupings under one program. The Ultimate Farmer Reality Challenge which combines entertainment with education and training will pitch teams of four groupings representing each tertiary institution in Ghana to compete for the Ultimate farmer title after weeks of intensive farming challenges. The organizers have carved he program around the everyday TV reality show but with a different twist and more interesting segments.

As part of the launch, there will be a Townhall meeting where panelists from government, chiefs, academia, investors, bankers etc. will answer to questions relating to agriculture and agribusiness challenges in their various sectors from the general public.

Watch the trailer of the UFRC for more information and be at the launch of UFRC to have all your agriculture related questions answered. RSVP 0246709666.
