Odebrecht Engineering and Construction (OEC) International has been ranked among nine Brazilian organisations that obtained maximum score in a Transparency International Report.

On Tuesday, January 30, 2018, OEC Business Leader, Fabio Januário, took part in an event in São Paulo which presented the "Transparency in Corporate Reports: the 100 Largest Brazilian Companies and the 10 Biggest Banks" study, produced by Transparency International. The institution evaluates companies’ level of corporate transparency and works to promote business integrity.

As part of the research carried out, the report analyzed the performance of 110 companies in disseminating anti-corruption programs. Odebrecht is among the nine which obtained the maximum score.

Subsequently, Fabio Januário represented Odebrecht as one of the speakers on the “Hard Talk – Facing Challenges Head-on” panel, alongside Everson Bassinello, the Braskem chief compliance officer and Eduardo Staino, the compliance director of Andrade Gutierrez.

During his presentation, he spoke about the compliance system introduced at OEC, citing as examples, among others, the arrival of the chief compliance officer, Mike Munro, and enhancing the Ethics Line, through which reports and alerts can be made about irregularities and misconduct by members, clients and third parties. “We are focused on business ethics, integrity and transparency”, Fabio emphasized.

In Ghana, Odebrecht Engineering and Construction International projects best practices in business ethics, integrity, transparency and corporate social responsibility. In 2016 and 2017, the company won the Engineering Company of the Year at the Ghana Corporate Social Responsibility Excellence Awards, GHACEA, organised by the Centre for CSR, West Africa in collaboration with the Association of Ghana Industries and other reputable local and international partners.

Recently, Odebrecht also won two ENR Global Best Projects Award, an award scheme often referred to as the ‘Oscars’ of Engineering. The Company is committed to improving stakeholders’ quality of life and promotes dialogue, cooperation and commitment. And through deliberate strategic technology and knowledge transfer, it contributes to the development of the capacity and expertise of the human resource of this country, especially in engineering and construction in Ghana.
